Many people feel that heading out on camping trips means that you need to surrender their beloved morning cup of coffee but we find that just isn’t true. There is nothing like the taste of a freshly brewed cup of coffee at your campsite in the morning. It’s not hard to do and we’ll give you a couple of ways to make the best cup the next time you’re camping.
• Traditional Campfire Coffee Recipe
This is a favorite method of many and we think you’ll enjoy it very much. First, place six teaspoons of ground coffee into the camping coffee pot and then pour three pints of cold water over these grounds. Place the coffee pot on the fire and bring to a boil. Once the mixture has boiled, take the pot off the heat and allow it to steep for approximately three minutes. To make the coffee more delicious, try adding a three or four spoons of cold water to the liquid after steeping to settle the coffee grounds.
• The Campfire Percolator Coffee Pot
The second of the best campfire coffee recipes is arguably the most common method to making campfire coffee – the percolator coffee pot technique.
Begin with one to two tablespoons of coarsely ground coffee for each six ounces of water. To avoid having coffee grounds in your mixture, it is recommended that you poke a hole in the coffee filter and place it in the perk basket. Watch the percolator until the mixture turns a ‘coffee color’ because the longer the coffee percolates, the stronger it will become. Using a percolator takes practice, but it can make great campfire coffee.
