Camping with the family offers many benefits, but also poses some challenges when it comes to keeping everyone entertained and involved in family bonding activities. That’s why we’ve come up with these fun camping games you can play with the whole family while enjoying nature at its finest!
1) Wake Up Race
One game we’ve played since our youngest child was able to crawl is Wake Up Race. We all lie down on our backs and turn over whenever the person in front of us does. If you have more than three people playing, everyone does not have to turn over at the same time.
This game never fails to amuse the kids for quite a while because it’s hilarious watching someone try to roll themselves over with their arms pinned under their body.
2) Hide And Seek In Nature
This game is perfect for any camping trip. All you need to do is make a designated area for your children to hide in and then be the seeker. Make sure the seeker calls out ready or not, here I come! Before heading out in search of the hidden child.
Once you find a child, exchange clothing with them and it becomes their turn to go hide. When someone gets found three times they are out of the game. When there are only two players left, whoever finds the other player first wins!
3) Balancing Acts
-Balance a tennis ball on the head and try to hold it there for as long as possible. Whoever drops the ball has to do three push-ups, run around in a circle three times and touch their nose before coming back and starting over.
-Build a tower of blocks or marshmallows, adding one at a time. Whoever falls over with the tower when it’s done has to take off an item of clothing until they’re left standing in their underwear.
-Try skipping stones across the water. The person who can skip it furthest across the lake is crowned ‘King’ and gets to choose someone else to give commands too – but be careful not to insult them!
4) Little Dribblers Soccer
It’s no secret that kids are pretty wild and often have a hard time sitting still. In case you’re planning to take the family camping, you’ll need some good activities to keep them occupied and well-behaved.
One of our favorite activities is Little Dribblers Soccer – we like it because it requires minimal equipment, can be played anywhere, and you don’t have to worry about keeping score.
First, you’ll need to get together all of your supplies. You will need a ball and a long piece of rope or string – depending on your preference.
You can also add cones and other kinds of markers to help improve accuracy and/or make it more challenging. Then, explain to everyone that they have to stand in two straight lines about 20 feet apart, facing each other. Next, call out what you’re shooting for – for example, anyone who scores two times in a row without any losses gets one point.
5) Piggy In The Middle
One of the most popular camping games is piggy in the middle. In this game, you will need some sort of larger ball to play with. Get the kids in a circle and give each one a turn to try to throw the ball at someone else’s head before it comes back to them.
Try not to let that person catch it before they have thrown it at someone else! If they manage to do so, their turn starts over from the beginning of the circle. This is an excellent outdoor camping game because it’s great exercise for everyone and easy enough for even small children to participate without any difficulty.
You can make it even more challenging by playing with a beach ball or a dodgeball when there is no risk of harm being done if you should get hit or hit someone else.
Summer Camp Games
There are many camps and outdoor summer camp games to play at the campsite. But one of the best ways to entertain kids and adults alike is with a camp fire game! Below are four of the best camping games for all ages.
1) Animal noises- this game starts by sitting in a circle facing each other, and going around the circle having each person share one animal noise that they can make, then going around again to have everyone guess what animal it is.
2) What’s in my hand? – Players form a circle and pass a white plastic bag or box to another player who must feel inside for an object without looking inside. Players then take turns guessing what object is in their hand. If no one guesses correctly before the bag is passed back to its original owner, continue playing until someone guesses correctly.
3) Guess That Song: Another fun camping game for kids and adults alike! One person thinks of a song and sings just one word at a time while others try to guess what song it is.
4) Headband relay: Divide into two teams, give every member on team (except one) a headband.
