You’re supposed to enjoy this trip, too, so planning ahead will help you spend less time working and more time playing while you are here. We found a menu plan for four days of camping. It lists a good variety of food and a corresponding grocery list. Impressive!
Your first day at the campsite is a simple dinner of hotdogs, apples and S’mores because you’ve traveled, unpacked, and are probably tired.
The next day presents you with “fire” food (because your “fresh” food is still thawing – as planned). You start with a nice traditional breakfast, make chicken quesadillas for lunch, hobo dinner at night and some snacks in between.
Day three is portable because you are probably exploring. It’s light fruit and bagels to start, sandwiches, snacks, and grilled cheese & soup for dinner with corn on the cob.
Day four wraps up with eating any left overs and sandwiches as you are packing up to leave. The whole menu is simple, inexpensive, and easy to clean up after. The shopping list makes it easy to get everthing you need on one trip to the grocery before you leave.
There are a few tips provided such as freezing water in empty milk jugs. You’ll also be freezing some of the other items in order to keep them usable for the second or third day. It’s a pretty well put together list, especially if you are new to camping and not sure how much food you will need or how to store it.
