Camping with your pets is a wonderful experience. They love it as much as you do and it’s nice to be able to share the experience instead having to either leave them behind or decide not to go at all. Each year, we see more and more pets joining their owners on the road and more businesses creating pet-friendly environments for families who travel with their pets.
Most of what it takes to keep you pet safe as you travel involves keeping them near you and leashed at all times. They can become anxious or overly curious in new environments and the risk of their dashing away and becoming lost is increased. A good collar and identification tags is also very important.
You should always carry your pet’s vaccination records with you when you travel. Write down the name and contact information of their regular Veterinarian in case they need to be contacted in an emergency for further information.
They will be most comfortable with their favorite beds and toys from home. You can bring these along with you and it will help them to feel relaxed in the RV as though things are not much different than when they are at home with you.
A small first-aid kit is also a good idea. Be sure to pack any prescriptions your pet needs and make sure you have more than enough on hand to cover the days you plan to be away. Bring their usual grooming tools, some eye wash, tweezers, a magnifying glass, ice packs, and some small blankets.
When you get to the campground, take the time to introduce them to the area around your campsite. They will feel better when they can explore the new smells and check out what the new sounds were coming from. This will help them to settle themselves in and relax any nerves they may be feeling.
We love that our campers bring their pets along with them and we look forward to meeting you and yours. Be sure to make your reservation soon. We can’t wait to see you here in the campground.
